I am a conventional farmer who is transitioning to regenerative agriculture. I heard about Rize from another farmer that I know - he told me that I could earn carbon credits from making the transition. With the credits I earn, I’ll be able to fund the change I’m making to my farm, and invest in better tools for the future. More than the money, I think it’s good that Rize is valorising the environmental impact.

I joined Rize not knowing much about carbon credits or regenerative agriculture. The Rize team has been helpful in teaching me more about it, and the tool is easy to use and follow. I’m happy to be on this journey because it will allow my farm to be both financially and environmentally sustainable for generations to come.

We read a lot about how agriculture contributes to the negative effects of climate change, and as a family of farmers, we feel a lot of pressure to do something about it. Now that our farm is able to generate carbon credits, we feel proud that we're not only feeding France, we're helping the planet heal as well.

Find a way to generate Carbon Credits that works for your farm

Snap pea plants
Add legumes into your crop rotation

Legumes do not require nitrogen, so including legumes in a crop rotation reduces the use of nitrogen fertiliser, thus improving the carbon footprint of the farm.

Add temporary grasslands into your crop rotation

Temporary grasslands are an effective way to increase carbon sequestration on your plots.

Manage your crop residue

Not exporting crop residues allows more carbon to be stored in the soil.

Reduce tillage

Reducing the number of times machinery is used on the farm can reduce fuel consumption and thus reduce CO2 emissions.

Plant cover crops

Planting cover crops can capture CO2 and increase the soil's carbon storage.

Optimize your use of fertilisation

The manufacturing of mineral fertilisers has a big impact on the carbon balance of a farm. The use of nitrogen fertilisers releases N2O emissions, whose warming power is 265 times higher than CO2.
Reducing the use of mineral fertilisers reduces the carbon footprint of the farm, while increasing the use of organic fertilisers increases the carbon stock of the soil.
